Nokia and Siemens help surpress freedom in Iran

Back in 2008 Iran approached Nokia Siemens Networks to help update it’s communications infrastructure. One of the requests was to install the ability to monitor internet traffic and determine it’s source. What better tool to give a government with a long history of human rights abuse. The ability to determine the source alone is a major deterrent to any reporters or protesters within the country.

This is neat. Augmented Reality HUD through a cell phone. Can’t wait till this comes to the states. Seems like they should be able to make this into an iPhone app.

The US Army has developed a new weapon to add to their arsenal. The XM25 battle rifle allows a solder to kill a target that has taken cover and can’t be shot by a direct line of sight weapon. Air-burst rounds are not new to the battlefield but they are usually found in grenade launchers and have a limited range and accuracy. The XM25 combines the range and accuracy of a rifle with the devastation and versatility of a grenade launcher.
